Later;
SS: You know what? I think since Sarnas mission was such a success, we might move the invasion of the Economic district ahead a little. As in right now. Troops, assemble. Sarna, scout it out if you see an opportunity that can’t be passed up, radio back and we’ll have the Soluith warp in some troops. In that same vein of thought, leave your radio on.
Sarna: Yes sir! *Takes off*
Xiraxi: *Moving through back alleys and through streets when no-one’s looking, making sure to keep her head down* (Whispering) Where are these hives again?
: In a safe place. I’m sorry there were none where you came in, but it would take too long and draw unwanted attention. And since these ones have survived for millennia unnoticed, you can launch an attack before the demons can prepare themselves.
Xiraxi: Well… that makes sense. Just get me there as soon as you can, I haven’t mastered the camouflage part of this armour yet.
Sarna: *Risks a glance from her alleyway and bolts across the street, wings increasing her speed* *Dives to cover* *Laughs to herself* Camouflage. Who needs it? *Continues scouting* Now I think I saw a small hole in a wall along here. If we could widen it, we could let some of the army in from the back without the Soluith exhausting themselves.
Xiraxi: Maybe if he attacks from the front, we could cause enough confusion to let him smash through the gates. A flanking strategy!
Sarna: *Running* *Grins behind her voice amplifier* This is the best idea I’ve ever had!
Xiraxi: *Running* Specter-
Sarna: -is-
Xiraxi: -going-
Sarna: -to-
Xiraxi : -be-
Sarna: -thri-
The two round the same corner, physically running into each other
Sarna: *Staggers back, clutching her head in pain*
Xiraxi: *Caught off guard, looses her footing and stumbles into a wall*
Sarna: *Shakes head* What- *Eyes widen in terror* *Brings up her radio faster than the blink of an eye* Overlord! We need to abort the invasion! I found the traitor and need backu-
Xiraxi: *Kicks the radio into her enemies face, destroying one and knocking the others owner back*
Sarna: Nidhogg, get back to Specter and tell him I need help! The Overlord’s here and I can’t fight them alone!
Nidhogg: *Looks uncertain* Are you su-
Xiraxi: GO! *Ducks under a kick and tries sweeping Sarnas other out from under her*
Sarna: *Avoids it with a single flap of her wings*
Xiraxi: *Leaps from her position, rising high enough to be eye-to-eye with her enemy* *Catches her by the throat and drags her down to earth*
Sarna: *Desperately claws at her enemies hand, her air passage cut off* *Gets weaker and stabs with her newly-electrified claws in a last-ditch attempt*
Xiraxi: *Lets go as she spasms uncontrollably* (Jerkily) Why didn’t the make these things shock-resistant?!
Sarna: *Leaning against the wall, catching her breath*
Xiraxi: … *Hesitantly mover her arms* *Takes out her hammer, confident the spasms have stopped*
Sarna: *Staggers to her feet, hissing weakly*
Xiraxi: *Smacks her enemy in the ribs, then the back while she’s doubled over* *Raises her hammer, aiming for the Banshees head*
Several screeches catch her attention, causing her to hesitate while looking in their direction
She is tackled by six Locusts, a seventh wresting her weapon from her grip
Xiraxi: *Throws off most of her attackers and snaps the sixths neck*
A Soluith warps in with a Salgrakarth in a mechanical set of armour twice the size of a normal Sarg
Manticore: (I forgot what they used to be called and I don’t feel like remembering so the close-combat mechs are called Manticores) Stand down and you will not be harmed. Much.
Xiraxi: *Leaps past his guard on to his back, beating the crap out of his armour with power gauntlets*
Manticore: *Spasming as his armour takes more and more damage* This is your- last war-ning… *Manages to knock her off and falls to one knee*
Xiraxi: *Lands on her feet* Sorry, but I don’t really feel like going back!
A certain greathammer hits her solidly in the back, a strike she can feel even through her power armour
Manticore: *Uses all his strength to grab the off-guard traitor and lock the mechanical hands in place* *Panting* There. That… that should do it.
Soluith: *Nods* *Turns on a radio* Overlord Scryer, we have the traitor. Warping back to base now.
Two more Soluith help him warp the soldiers and their captive back to base.
Sarna: *Stands to attention, though it’s obvious it’s taking all her effort to keep from collapsing* (Laboured breathing) Sir… We have… the traitor.
SS: *Grinning almost ear to pointy ear* Excellent! At ease Sarna, you may collapse now.
Sarna: Thank you… sir. *Kneels over and falls forward*
SS: (To a Soluith) You! Get her to the infirmary and don’t even think about executing her to save time. Her clone bodies need another day to grow.
Soluith: *Wordlessly obeys*
Xiraxi: *Looks around at the gathered Sargs* He’s only using you! As soon as you finish what he wants you to do he’ll just cast you aside like he does the Locusts!
Sarg: Traitor!
Scryer: Silence! (Softly) Xiraxi. My dear, sweet, deluded Xiraxi… I plan for the Sargs to be the rulers of this Netherworld, not to execute them if they become too dangerous, not unless they’re actively taking steps against by rule because let’s be honest, no-one likes a usurper. And you were wrong, even Locusts can rise if they prove themselves worthy, like the one sho hit you with your own hammer. On top of that, your rejection was not of my choosing! And at least I’m honest when I send soldiers to their deaths. Can you say the same for your little Locust rebellion?
Xiraxi: At least I’m not an idiot who lets his ego get in the way of his tactical decisions!
The assembled Sargs hiss in fury. Even Honjis muscles tense as she glares
Scryer: I see. Well then. Soluith, put her over there. *Points in front of a large machine with a glowing portal between two large, metal poles.*
Soluith: Overlord?
Scryer: Something the Techies made using salvaged Lizard technology. The only problems are they have no idea if it works, where it leads to, if it’s safe or if there’s any way to get back again. They suspect it might be a portal to another planet or even another universe. It’s the most hilariously stupid thing I’ve ever heard in my life really. Everyone knows there’s only one reality, and that’s this one.
The Soluith escort her over, stopping in front of the portal
Scryer: We can’t have your pitiful body degrading this world, so I’m going to execute you and replace your skeleton with a mechanical one which will return here if their alternate planet theory’s correct. *His left gauntlet forms, blades sprouting out on either side*
Xiraxi: *Rips one hand free, kicks the Soluith through the portal and throws the other one through while he’s still surprised* *Rolls out of the way as Scryer stabs at her, sprints towards her hammer which has just been left on the ground for some reason and snatches it up before her free hand grasps at the chain around her throat*
Honji: *Pulling her closer despite her small frame* Oh. No. You. Don’t! *Yanks the chain, sending her flying towards the portal*
Xiraxi: *Manages to grab the chain as she hurtles towards it*
Honji: Wh- *Yelps in alarm as she’s physically pulled off her feet towards the portal*
Scryer: *Desperately grabs for his girlfriend, but misses as she flies through the portal* ….. *Takes a shaky breath* Everyone, I want to know WHERE that portal leads and I want to know NOW!
Orochi: Shadow, I know you’re pissed but there’s an invasion of aliens two thousand strong. We don’t know where they’ll attack, but-
Scryer: Forgive me it I made it look like I give a shit.
Orochi: (Grimly) Any other time, I’d love to piss you off more than anything. Believe me, I know it’s not a good idea right now but we HAVE to get the bases ready for an invasion. If we don’t, it could mean the end of all we’ve accomplished, we can look for Honji later. Besides, she’d just get revived if she died.
Scryer: … *Growls* you’re right. I don’t like it, but you’re right. *Takes out a radio* This is a message to all bases, there is an imminent threat of invasion from an enemy of unknown origins. Get ready and watch the skies. Overlord Scryer out.
